About PEP Nexus
PEP Nexus, LLC is a multimedia company dedicated to promoting food safety. PEP stands for Protect Every Plate. Nexus reflects our mission to connect advocates, experts, and organizations globally. Our goal is to use the power of media to create a safer food environment by amplifying diverse voices, sharing groundbreaking research, and spotlighting innovative practices in food safety.
The motivation behind starting PEP Nexus is a deeply personal one. In 1993, my husband, Dr. Darin Detwiler, experienced a devastating loss when his 17-month-old son died from a food-borne illness. This tragedy ignited a lifelong mission for him to advocate for food safety. He is one of a very few consumer advocates that is not affiliated with a corporation or government organization.
Since the beginning of our relationship in 2012, I have been deeply inspired by his unwavering commitment to food safety. My career has spanned from secretary to software trainer to data analyst. None of that work inspired me. In 2023 I realized what I did for work was not fulfilling to me and that I had a desire to have a more positive impact on the world. So I quit my job in order to help my husband expand his consulting business, working with company's that are committed to food safety. This move proved to be the right choice as with my help the business has expanded. I have seen him collaborate with organizations, create content, and spread awareness through various channels. His dedication made me want to find a more proactive way to support his mission that was a creation of my own.
My idea for starting this multimedia company came from the lack of platforms that promote food safety on a strictly personal level. Instead of only focusing on content creation for clients promoting their services and products, PEP Nexus offers a platform for advocates like my husband to produce personal, impactful content. So much has already been accomplished in the food safety movement but so much still needs to be done.
Our mission is to support a stronger future legacy of food safety.
Our goal is to bring authentically personal voices to inspire courage and highlight the expertise of prominent figures in the field of food safety ensuring that crucial messages reach the audiences that need them most.
